I have always loved writing and receiving letters by mail.
I love the romanticism of it all - the surprise you get when you find one in the mailbox, the anticipation to know who it was from when there are no return address and the excitement to read about something or someone from far away. I love savoring every written word - the exclamation points, misspellings and erasures truly reflecting the writer's emotion.
I love that you can keep them safe in a box tucked under your bed or beside your collection of stuffed animals - easily accessible for you to re-read again and again when you feel a sense of nostalgia.
I used to have a supply of colorful and scented stationaries and pens which have gone unnoticed and unused by the coming of the digital age and electronic correspondence making traditional letter writing a novelty.
I got to experience the 'romance' of letter writing again as I wrote a special 'love letter' to be personally hand carried and delived to the Vatican!!!
I thank my friend Sharon for lovingly encouraging us to write love letters to God which she will bring with her as she goes to the Vatican on 24th of April for the canonization of Pope John Paul II.
Scripture teaches us that “Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him” (Matthew 7:8), still I wrote the letter with all my heart, asking the Lord for the grace, patience and understanding to wait for the answers or leadings in his own perfect timing...
... for all of this May God Be Praised!!!
